UK Police Dog history

This blogsite was produced in answer to the numerous requests by other researchers, over the years, to supply further documents, photographs etc that had been used in my research. It also provides a little nostalgia for those individual Officers I trained with and whos' company I enjoyed during my career, retiring in 1996. I have not reproduced all the pages from my book as hopefully this site will encourage further sales of those copies still in the cellar at Scarthin Books.

Stafford Initial Police Dog Training Course 1971

Standing back row left to right – number two is Ex Notts Sergeant Beeney MOLLER one of the instructors, In the centre is Inspr. Jack Howells. The seventh man is another course instructor Constable Derek Smith (Staffs) Front row left to right first man in is Peter Hallam with Police Dog Blue.

Hello, I'm Bini Moeller's daughter. We lived in the Police HQ at Baswich House, when I was at Primary School in Stafford. Baswich House Drive is now demolished. Dad passed away in 2005, and had a guard of honour at Stafford Crematorium of police dogs. He would have loved that.
I remember that all the donated alsatians had to be dogs, not bitches, and not long haired, as they would look too friendly. There were police dog kennels along side the stables and parade ground at Baswich House, which were modernised in about 1968 ??
Looking back, it was a very strange place to grow up, but normal to my brother and I.
