Peter joined the City Police and served his first two years on Northern Division.  He then transferred to the Dog Section at Canal Street and later went into Training at Epperstone.   He was promoted to Sergeant to the Dog Section and then Inspector and took charge of the unit which included the Mounted section, after Ch/Insp Ray Wood
