Police Dog 'Storm' back from the age of 'steam'
This blogsite was produced in answer to the numerous requests by other researchers, over the years, to supply further documents, photographs etc that had been used in my research. It also provides a little nostalgia for those individual Officers I trained with and whos' company I enjoyed during my career, retiring in 1996. I have not reproduced all the pages from my book as hopefully this site will encourage further sales of those copies still in the cellar at Scarthin Books.

But, it can be mentioned that Storm is actually touching the top of the door and the window as he jumps and he has only about two foot of corridor space for the take off.
This not a specially cleared area to take the newspaper photograph, but a busy station platform where the Ex London train is still unloading passengers thus demonstrating the safety and skills of a Terry Shelton trained Police Dog in action.
It was an every day occurence for Storm to work without a leash amongst the public and he very often took prisoners out of a group of unruly football fans without any instructions at all.
There was no special training for the photograph, the photographer and reporters just arrived and asked to take the police dog's photograph and Storm obliged them on the spot.
As was quite a risky project,it was also a definite one off and despite requests for a repeat performance by management, it was never done again.
