My grandfather Charles Henry Clements (Harry) had the first police dog in leicester. The dogs name was Matt. My mother has photos of my grandfather and the dog in some old Clarion magazines.

Matt was bought by Leicester watch committee for £12 in 1938 as a trial. He was a golden retriever.
